The GEL-VENTURE 8 running shoe is designed for the great outdoors. This versatile shoe is excellent for trail runs, light hiking or exploring a new city. This model has been updated with a more accommodating forefoot fit, while reducing the amount of overlays around the forefoot without sacrificing durability. Lastly, the outsole is more durable with a traction pattern that’s been improved with re-engineered lugs under the heel. All of these updates make the new GEL-VENTURE 8 shoe a recommended companion for your next adventure.

I really like these shoes. They are comfortable and have just the right amount of cushion and support for my 64-year-old feet. I don’t care for neon colored stripes and so the more modest style of these shoes is just what I wanted. I just hope ASICS will continue making this model because I will definitely buy them again.

I was looking for a good entry-level pair of walking/running shoes and found these to be a great value. I wear size 10 men’s, and based on reviews here, I went up to a 10.5. No need. They are true to size, at least in the case of men’s 10s. I have worn men’s size ten for 40 years, so I am pretty sure I know the “true to size” fit. Neutral shoe. Good support. Very comfortable. Doesn’t retain stones. Quality seems on par with the many ASICS I have owned in the past.

So for starters this is not quite what I expected from the venture line, it’s a lot lighter in the sole and material. That said it is a lot cheaper and I suspect they have a more expensive shoe that now fills that role.
my last pair of running/workout shoes was the venture 5. I immediately fell in love not only because I found my rareish size, 12.5, but because of the overall quality and feel of the shoe. The were more expensive than these venture 8s but they were more sturdy, the soles had more bounce and they were much more suited for the trails. I used them for 2 years even wearing them to work on occasion. Usually more expensive gym shoes last less than a year and I trash work boots at my factory job in 6 months. The venture 5s were without exaggeration the best shoe I ever had…
These venture 8s as previously mentioned are lighter weight which is ostensibly better, as the 5s weren’t the lightest shoe, but the new shoe lacks in support, grip, and bounce. I like these shoes still they’re very comfortable and good for road running and gym training, but I might have to get something a little more sturdy like the trail excite or something.. so I gave them 4 stars because they didn’t meet my expectations but they’re good shoes still and if I could have gave them a 4.5 I probably would have

I’ve been wearing Gel-Venture 6 shoes for many years. I decided to try the 8’s this time. I found they do not have the style features I prefer, the fit is a little narrower, and the insole is not removable. So next time I’m back to 6’s so long as they are still made.

I use these primarily for warm/dry weather trail walking (my running days are over…) I got these to replace an older pair of Gel-Kahana 8, which are apparently discontinued. Like the Kahanas, they tend to run small (I had to go up a half-size) and have a good trail-sole with good mid-foot protection. They don’t seem to have the same lateral support as the Kahanas, but are fine for most moderate trail hiking.

I’m finding that ASICS shoes provide a level of comfort I don’t often find from other brands at this price. My property offers a lot of sprinting and cutting and uneven terrain, these help ensure that I stay upright. Mindful walking is made easier from the stability of the sole shape and flexibility of the materials. Great shoes!

I got these to replace my old Asics Gel-Venture 6, and they are everything I had hoped for.
The comfort is just what you would expect from Asics. They are lightweight (lighter than the 6) with excellent breathability. Support and fit are just like I what I fell in love with in the 6.
Some details that seem to me to be upgrades from the 6: The outsole is a slightly harder, more plasticky material. This is ideal for me because my daily dog walks often take me off-road or make me drag my feet on the pavement. This material feels like it will be more sturdy than plain rubber. Also, the laces have a very different feel to them, again almost like plastic. But when I pull the laces tight, they stay in place and don’t slip back like cotton or smooth nylon laces do. They also don’t come untied until you untie them.

I’m pretty sure this shoe is on the way out and why it is so heavily discounted.
I’m working a different profession where I’m outside 30% of the time and much more active, walking 6-7 miles a day. My wife insists I need to get out of my white “Dad” NB and Nike shoes for something with more color. And of course I don’t want to move away from what works.
For me, trail and running shoes are what I feel most comfortable in when on an occasional ladder or crawling around equipment on a trailer. The right balance of lightness and support. The lasting places on the tongue allow for various ways to lace these shoes for optimal fit. The grip on wet metal is a nice surprise. I like these so much, I’ve ordered three pairs and have them in rotation.
